Dil Se was opened by Hussain Holdings Limited in 2005 and the background of the key staff and the company itself is detailed below.

ANWAR HUSSAIN, OPERATIONS MANAGER
Dil Se is operated by Anwar Hussain, a young but experienced restaurateur. Having lived in London and experienced the new wave of Indian fine dining, Anwar became passionate about introducing a new style of Indian restaurant to Scotland. Dil Se is the beginning of the realisation of this dream and Anwar has been closely involved in developing the innovative new menu.

Anwar was brought up on Orkney and studied at Kirkwall Grammar School before departing for Dundee College to study IT in 1998. After college, Anwar opened his first restaurant in 1998 in Blairgowrie which was quickly followed by others in 1999 and 2000. These franchises were later sold at a profit in 2004 and Anwar has since been working on data analysis for Coral and Siemens.

UMAR HUSSAIN, DIRECTOR
Umar Hussain is a director of the family company Hussain Holdings Limited. Hussain Holdings Limited owns Dil Se.

Brought up in Orkney and educated in Oban, Umar has been working in family restaurants since he was 13 and went on to train as a chef for 2 years. He worked with his brother Anwar on the opening of India Palace in Oban and was also employed by the Crerar Hotel Group for some time before returning to Orkney to launch Dil Se with Anwar.

Aside from from a financial interest in the restaurant, Umar also uses his Chef training to contribute to the continuing development of the Dil Se menu.

MOTIN UDDIN, HEAD CHEF
Motin Uddin has been at the helm of all of Hussain Holdings Limited’s new openings. He has now notched up over 20 years experience in cooking Bangladeshi and Indian Cuisine. Throughout his career he has refined his skills in this area and Dil Se’s menu represents his finest work to date.
